Savills has achieved UK number one status in a survey conducted by leading trade publication Estates Gazette, published Saturday 29 September 2012. Based on its UK turnover of £352.30 million for the financial year end 2011, this marks the firm's 12th year ranked at number one and a return to the top spot after falling to second place in 2011.
Also in this survey, Savills topped the tables for the number of graduates taken on during 2011/2012, with a total of 60 new recruits.
Estates Gazette reported that there has been a modest growth in the sector with collective turnover at the leading agencies at £2.28 billion, which is up 1.2% on 2011. Savills Group recently reported 2012 half year results with revenue up 5% to £353m (H1 2011, £336m) and an underlying pre-tax profit of £19.7m.
Mark Ridley, Chairman and Chief Executive of Savills Commercial, says: “We are very pleased to have secured the top spot once again and believe this is testament to our diversified business model, in terms of both geography and service lines. We would like to thank our clients who are key to our success and going forward we will endeavour to continue to provide them with a best in class service.
“The market remains challenging and we must continue to be cautious in our approach but we have seen an increased stabilisation this year and we predict that small growth could begin as soon as 2013, for which we will be poised to continue our market leading position.”
In addition, in June 2012, Savills was ranked UK number one, according to Property Week’s annual survey of property advisors. Savills has retained number one status in this survey since it started nine years ago.
